Description of the role:
Serra Chevrolet Buick GMC in Madison, Tennessee is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team.
An Automotive Dealership Accounting Clerk plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the financial operations of a dealership. Their responsibilities are similar to those of general accounting clerks but tailored to the unique aspects of the automotive dealership environment, reconciling accounts, and processing high-volume transactions.
Key responsibilities of an Automotive Accounting Clerk may include but not limited to:
- Deal Desking Clerk:
- Processing payments from customers for vehicle sales or finance transactions and ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded in accounting.
- Compliance:
- Ensuring proper documentation when processing vehicle sales transactions is included with deal paperwork.
- Prepare deal paperwork to go out to banks for funding of sales transaction in timely manner.
- Process Title Work:
- Will assist with preparing title work for registration & title processing.
- General Ledger Entries:
- Recording financial transactions in the general ledger, including sales and expenses.
- Reconciling Accounts:
- Reconciling assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Other Office Tasks:
- Will assist with other office/accounting tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Accounting Software Proficiency: Familiarity with dealership-specific accounting software like Tekion, CDK Global, or Dealertrack is a big plus. Experience in Microsoft Excel is also helpful.
- Attention to Detail: Given the complexity of automotive transactions, maintaining accuracy is essential.
- Understanding of Dealership Operations: An understanding of how different departments (sales, parts, service) contribute to the overall financial picture of the dealership.
- Communication Skills: Ability to interact with various departments within the dealership (sales, parts, service) and outside vendors.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies and find solutions efficiently.
Education and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping is often preferred, and experience within the automotive industry is a plus.
