What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Officer position at Serrato Corporation?
Primary Position Objective
Established systems to maintain safety of students, staff, and property. Serves as the chair of the center safety committee. Assists the Safety/Security Manager with safety inspections, walk-throughs, and other duties of the Center Safety and Security Departments. Follows policies and procedures in accordance with DOL, PRH, Center and Serrato Corporation requirements.
Brief Description of Duties
- Performs building safety checks on a weekly basis and provides written feedback to Safety/Security Manager.
- Conducts regular inspections of GSA vehicles for safety and maintenance and communicates concerns to the Safety/Security Manager and Senior Driver.
- Conducts weekly safety training to new students.
- Assists the Safety/Security Manager with investigations of safety related issues.
- Monitors the Center grounds daily throughout the training day to help ensure all personal protective equipment is being used and that students and staff are using safe work habits.
- Develops, implements, and maintains the Center Safety Committee.
- Conducts safety orientations to new employees.
- Assists Safety/Security Manager in maintaining a vibrant and strong Safety Cadet Program.
- Assists the Safety/Security Manager with security investigations as requested.
- Attends regular OSHA and DOL Safety training.
- Performs security duties as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
- Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety.
- Knowledge of safety management information systems.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Experience
Two years’ occupational health and safety or related experience.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree preferred.
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
- Valid State Driver's License.
