What You’ll Do:
- Lead a safety-first culture by implementing safety policies, training programs, and DOT regulations to eliminate work-related injuries.
- Partner with Corp Logistics and Plant Transportation Manager to promptly report and investigate fleet driver accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with Corp Logistics and Plant Transportation Manager to achieve delivery, cost, and quality service objectives.
- Manage daily fleet dispatch and ensure efficient coordination of deliveries and pick-ups of returned merchandise.
- Resolve driver and customer issues while ensuring effective communication regarding delivery delays.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance fleet operations.
- Build strong relationships with drivers, responding proactively to their concerns.
- Stay current with industry trends by attending relevant training in delivery, DOT, and health/safety regulations.
How You’ll Do It:
- Optimize the cost-effectiveness of the delivery function by managing labor utilization, preventing excess hours, downtime, and overtime, and ensuring efficient use of transportation equipment.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, including monitoring driver logs, critical events, performance, accident reporting, and vehicle maintenance.
- Oversee the proper use of Omnitracs ELD system and fleet EPOD devices for accurate delivery information and DOT compliance.
- Prepare daily management and weekly mileage reports for state fuel tax reporting and other necessary reports.
- Monitor drivers’ mileage and wage systems to ensure accurate compensation.
- Work in a manufacturing environment, occasionally lifting products up to 100 lbs.
What You’ll Bring:
- High School Diploma with 5 years of transportation experience, including at least 5 years in fleet management with direct driver supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in transportation or supply chain management preferred; Lean training/certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations, as well as federal, state, and local health and safety standards.
- Proficient in using data-driven metrics and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
