What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Business Relationship Officer position at Service 1st Federal Credit Union?
Role:Calls on prospective and existing clients to, originate, underwrite, manage, and grow the Credit Union's portfolio of member business loans, with overall objective of maintaining and increasing its asset quality; to develop new and existing business relationships for both loan and deposit services.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the position's manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:E70%Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the Credit Union. Calls on clients to expand existing business; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the Credit Union's client base. Represents the Credit Union at various functions to develop and maintain business relationships. Takes applications for commercial loan business. Reviews member financial condition and assesses the member's ability to re-pay the loan. Makes underwriting decisions within approval authority. Completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loans. Responsible for post-closing file management. Assists loan support department to clear any audit findings.E20%Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base. Maintains up-to-date member files including current balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow projections and all loan documentation. Assist member/staff with business loan related questions, including loan modifications and payment issues. Assists with training of new business lending personnel.E5%Assists in collection of past due loans and liquidation of collateral if necessary.N5%Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Performance Measurements:1.Under the direction of the VP Member Business Services, develops strategic goals and targets for new and existing business development and member business relationships. Assist in designing, developing and implementing programs, products and services related to member business loan and deposit accounts.2.Travel on a regular basis to visit potential and existing member business clients, branch locations and SEGs to ensure level of service meets credit union's quality service standards.3.Establish and maintain involvement in community efforts. Be a visible presence in the local communities. Promote the credit union through visible participation in business, community and charitable organizations and activities.4.Pursue and identify member business loan and deposit clients and service accounts. Present the products/services of the credit union, analyze requests, decision the request within granted loan authority or recommend the request and continue until the request has been satisfied and closed. Ongoing monitoring of the accounts will be required, including periodic loan reviews. Assist in the collection of member business account delinquencies as required.5.Perform functions relating to loan services, to include providing information about the services, interviewing applicants, determining collateral needs and payment plans, reviewing, underwriting, processing, closing loan applications and post-closing duties. Approve consumer and member business loans up to authorized level, prepare all loan documents, schedule appointments, disburse funds, and mail notices following federal and Credit Union laws, regulations and policies. Communicate frequently with other credit union employees and CUSO staff.6.Promote deposit accounts and services to businesses and manage the ongoing performance of the portfolio.7.Assist the CLO and CXO in the creation and implementation of new member business solutions.8.Provide support to credit union and CUSO lenders with financial statement analysis, loan documentation, loan underwriting, clerical tasks and documentation collection as required.9.Assist with internal audits and examinations.10.Promote credit union products and services by cross-selling to meet members', select employer group (SEG) and/or member business needs.11.Provide informed, prompt, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates. Assist with other member and financial services as necessary.12.Assist in the training and development of additional member business lending staff as required or necessary including but not limited to the Member Business Loan Processor.13.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions as well as knowledge of state and federal laws related to member business lending and services, including any federal or state reporting requirements. Ensure that all activity is in compliance with established policies and regulations.14.Monitor, evaluate and report on competitive financial products from major competitors within the region to provide management with sufficient information to identify potential opportunities or weaknesses the credit union faces. Maintain knowledge of competitors' rates, terms, etc., as well as internal trends relating to member business services including loans, deposits and account services.15.Ensure that all members, both internal and external, receive prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional service and that member problems and complaints are resolved promptly, courteously and fairly.16.Provides recommendation and input regarding ALM strategy and liquidity management.17.Responsible for maintaining awareness of loan concentration limits and providing recommendations to VP of Member Business Services regarding management of limits.18.Serves as the SBA loan specialist for the credit union.19.Maintain a thorough knowledge of state and federal laws related to commercial lending, including any federal or state reporting requirements. Maintain a current understanding of lending regulations and comply with policies and regulations including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Truth in Lending, Fair Lending, RESPA, HMDA, MLA, FCRA, SAFE Act and Collections laws. Knowledge of the Small Business Administration lending procedures is required.20.Maintain eligibility and continuing education requirements necessary to obtain and maintain various licenses required to underwrite/analyze loans, sell insurance or any other Credit Union related product.Knowledge and Skills:ExperienceA minimum of five years’ business lending or business credit analyst experience is required. A minimum of five years of experience as a loan officer with lending authority at Service 1st may be considered in lieu of business lending experience. Must demonstrate proven business development and financial analysis skills. Experience analyzing business financial statements and assessing the viability of businesses is required. Knowledge of the Credit Union movement and philosophy is preferred.Education(1) A bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).Interpersonal SkillsWork involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature.
