Safety & Risk Specialist
We are currently looking for a collaborative and reliable Safety & Risk Specialist to join our team to promote a world-class safety culture across the entire TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® System. The Safety and Risk Specialist and Senior Safety and Risk Specialist work closely with the DOT, Operations and Training & Development teams to provide material and guidance to franchises in both risk management and safety compliance, which involves working closely with the operations and compliance departments to constantly communicate and respond to franchises regarding annual safety improvement visits, model safety programs and provide ongoing support to franchises. In this role, you will also monitor, measure and report franchise compliance with safety management policies and programs.
What you'll do:
Advise and support assigned franchises with their safety program
Provide training on claims management, safety compliance, risk mitigation and resources
Assist with implementing, updating, and overseeing risk management program and policies
Provide guidance on OSHA compliance and other regulations
Complete on-site risk assessments and works with locations to improve processes and culture
Host monthly safety calls with franchises and franchise staff
Manage and update individual franchises risk management scorecard
Evaluate annual loss trends and needs assessment to create custom action plan to drive franchise performance
Assist with development and updating of policies and procedures as needed
Assist in the creation, implementation, and updating of action plans to remediate high risk locations (risk improvement visits and follow-up)
Assist with the Training & Development team and third-party vendors to ensure safety training programs are developed and regularly updated
Support the development and updates of safety online training manuals
Collaborate with safety and risk team to provide up to date and relevant content
Assist with monitoring, updating, and promoting safety tools and services including model safety policies, safety training calendars and claims assistance program
Provide support for Captive Insurance Program locations
Assist with maintenance of Risk Management Hub page
Assist franchises with technical support of the annual safety submissions
Develop and maintains strong understanding of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® System and operating procedures
Participate in on-going training through conferences, seminars and webinars as needed
What you bring:
General knowledge of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® System
Understanding of OSHA laws and regulations
Basic understanding of DOT regulations
General knowledge of Safety policies and procedures
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to travel (required)
Strong interpersonal, active listening and communication skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent reading comprehension skills
Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion, Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
Ability to manage competing priorities of up to 10 franchises
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Associate degree in business, Human Resources/Safety, Logistics/Transportation, or a related field is preferred
A minimum of two years’ relevant industry and/or System experience, which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities, is preferred
This position is based out of our Michigan Support Center in Lansing, Michigan. The role is hybrid, with the opportunity to work from home and the office throughout the week.
