This role will involve proactive risk management, adherence to safety regulations, and continuous improvement of workplace safety standards. The Safety Manager will also be a key resource for training, reporting, and responding to incidents, working closely with all departments to ensure safety policies are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide safety training to all employees, including new hires and regular safety refreshers, ensuring all staff are aware of safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Investigate workplace accidents or near misses, prepare incident reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety standards. Keep updated on changes in safety regulations and best practices.
- Perform routine inspections of the work environment, equipment, and processes to identify and resolve safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and compliance efforts. Provide regular reports to senior management regarding safety performance and program effectiveness.
- Lead safety meetings and participate in safety committees, driving a culture of safety across the organization.
- Oversee emergency preparedness drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures) and ensure emergency equipment is well-maintained and accessible.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety management role, ideally within the IT services.
- Experience working on large commercial projects.
- OSHA certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour or 10-hour certification) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential safety-related information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
