Job Summary

This job contributes to Bitty & Beau's Coffee success by leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of Bitty & Beau's Coffee while creating and maintaining an exceptional experience for our customers. The General Manager is required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the store. In particular, a majority of time is spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, staffing and scheduling), ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality and managing safety and security within the store. The incumbent is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Bitty & Beau's Coffee guiding principles.

Primary Duties

  • Monitors and manages store staffing levels to ensure team member development and talent acquisition to achieve and maintain store operational requirements.

  • Uses all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the store.

  • Actively manages team members by regularly conducting performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve team member performance. Manages ongoing team member performance using performance management tools to support organizational objectives.

  • Drives the implementation of company programs by developing action plans and directly motivating and instructing team members to implement them to meet operational and organizational objectives.

  • Provides coaching and direction to team members to take action and to achieve operational goals. Constantly reviews store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to provide coaching and direction to the team members to achieve operational goals.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Displays a customer comes first attitude by training and holding team members accountable for delivering nationally recognized customer service.

  • Attends community events to promote and develop relationships to integrate with the community and grow sales.

  • Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates appropriate responsibilities and practices to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.

  • Solicits customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community.

  • Utilizes existing tools to identify and prioritize communications and regularly uses discretion to filter communications to the team members. Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective store operations.

  • Ensures adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for nonexempt team members and minors.

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs and concerns.

  • Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational tools and programs as well as by finding new, creative and effective methods of recognition.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Bachelor's degree required with a major in Food and Hospitality Management preferred. Degree can be substituted with at least 5 years management experience in Food and Hospitality.

  • At least 3 years' previous experience managing others required.

  • Restaurant or retail experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to delegate effectively.

  • Ability to interact well with a diverse population.
