To transport students safely and efficiently to and from school. To provide a safe and clean learning environment enabling the students to take full advantage of the District's total educational program. To respect the District and its personnel and represent it with the utmost professionalism.
Qualifications
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation: Completed annually by the Director or their designee.

Bus Aide

Qualifications
- Must have passed a physical exam and comply with stipulations recommended by the school's examining physician.
- Prior experience in school transportation or working with special needs students is preferred.
- The ability to deal and interact with the general public and school staff is
- Ability to handle and cope with emotional behavior and physical handicapping problems afflicting special education students is required.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others Be a team player.
- Job requires physical ability to lift 40, stand, climb stairs and ladders, lift, push, pull, and bend for extended periods.
- Self-directed
- CPR Certified
- Maine DOE Certification -CHRC
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Assist students to their assigned seats.
- Assist bus driver with any specialized equipment, i.e. hydraulic wheelchair rams, harnesses, seat belts, canes, etc.
- Be familiar with radio communication procedures to assist bus drivers in an emergency
- Ability to assist bus drivers and students in performing required emergency evacuation drills.
- Assist bus driver in the seating arrangement
- Meet with staff and/or parents to discuss transportation issues related to specific students
- Attend and complete all required training sessions
- Be a team player
- Perform any other job duties as they occur and as requested by the Director or designee.
- High School Diploma or equivalent E.D.
- Experience working with students and/or transportation preferred
- School Year Only - 179 days
- 6 hrs/day
