Literacy Interventionist (Anticipated)

District

Job Goal(s)

• Provide literacy support to students in grades K – 5.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to improve overall literacy achievement.
  
  

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of current elementary literacy research and pedagogy.
• Experience differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Strong knowledge of effective MTSS models.
• Proven ability to use data to inform instruction and measure student progress.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other staff.
• Ability to create engaging and effective individual and small group literacy lessons.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Reading Recovery certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
  
  

Certifications

• Maine DOE Certification - 092: Literacy Specialist OR
• Maine DOE Certification - 020: Elementary Teacher with the ability to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe will be considered.
  
  

Travel Requirements

• Travel between schools or district buildings may be required.
  
  

Reports To: Designated Principal(s)

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Master's degree in Reading or a related field preferred.
  
  

Experience

• Teaching experience in elementary education.
• Experience working with all facets of MTSS in a school setting preferred.
  
  

Compensation: According to the RSU #9 Professional Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement
