Job Summary
The Senior Accountant has direct oversight of functions performed by the inventory and accounts payable team. They will be responsible for managing the company’s inventory accounting processes, including oversight of inventory count procedures. They will work closely with other departments in all aspects of accounting related to inventory and payables and the Procure to Pay process.
You will
Inventory Management
Oversee the accurate recording and reporting of inventory transactions, including purchases, adjustments and transfers.
Work closely with warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure accurate costing.
Monitor inventory reserves, obsolescence, and write-offs, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
Identify inefficiencies in inventory accounting processes and recommend process enhancements. Develop and maintain inventory control policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
Research and resolve inventory variances.
Facilitate and oversee inventory cycle count procedures.
Review Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) spreadsheet.
Supervise and mentor inventory accountant and delegate tasks effectively.
Procure to Pay
Manage, mentor and develop the accounts payable team.
Supervise and ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices.
Review invoices for correct coding in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Assist in implementing process improvements within procure to pay cycle, including enhancements to vendor onboarding and vendor management processes.
Assisting with month-end close, including accruals and account reconciliations.
Review and coding of Company credit card expenditures.
Other General Accounting Responsibilities
Provide support in audit and any compliance work, as needed.
Assist in 1099 preparation and filings.
Administration of Concur expense reimbursements as well as reviewing for accordance with company expense policy.
Support on implementation and adoption of new technologies such as new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Assist on implementation and execution of internal controls.
You have
Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting preferred
Experience in manufacturing, retail or distribution, preferred
Experience leading a team or supervising in an accounting setting
Working knowledge of US GAAP, including ability to research treatment for new types of transactions.
Advanced MS Excel and data management skills.
Adaptability to change, and a versatile team player capable of handling diverse priorities.
Strong project management skills, to execute on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting timelines.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, preferred.
Experience with Blackline, preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field.
