Junior Application Systems Engineer

Position Summary

As a Junior Application Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Systems Engineering team. Your role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining content distribution application infrastructure for the US Government Community. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Video Engineering, Network Engineering, and Service Delivery, to build content distribution and video streaming solutions that integrate with Satellite Communication systems. Key responsibilities include defining and documenting system requirements, creating Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and developing system design and architecture documents. After the design phase, you will establish service thresholds and maintain a pre-production lab environment to address escalations from production networks and systems.

What You Will Need To Succeed In This Role

• Linux Fundamentals: Strong command-line capabilities, preferably with experience in Ubuntu Server
• IP Networking Proficiency: CCNA-level knowledge required
• Math and Physics Fundamentals: High school AP Math and AP Physics proficiency
• Hunger to Learn More: A passion for acquiring new knowledge and skills
• Effective Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Curiosity and Adaptability: A naturally inquisitive mindset and a keen interest in exploring emerging technologies
  
  

Primary Responsibilities

• Configure Video Streaming and Content Delivery applications on Linux Servers
• Create and maintain service thresholds for these applications and provide training to operations team members as needed
• Act as a technical escalation point to resolve production issues
• Contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and presentations when required
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Successfully complete a written assessment
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Reside in the DC Metro area, or be willing to relocate
• Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Exhibit a mindset that is humble, hungry, and smart
  
  

The base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 bonus benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
