Job summary:
This position will coordinate and oversee payment submission, posting, cash reconciliation, credit balance, and refund processing for the agency's services by supervising a team of billing specialists. The Billing Manager of Set Free Alaska will be responsible for managing the workflows and administration of these activities to ensure compliance with our company's best practice standards and Division of Behavioral Health guidelines.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Five (5) years experience in billing in a fee-for-service platform including Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and self-pay
- Experience in EHR software
- Ability to supervise a billing team
- Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Certified Billing and Coder Credentials
- Experience in CareLogic, AKAIMS software
- Experience in nonprofit and behavioral health
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Skills required:
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

Job responsibilities:
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of the medical billing and collections process
- Act as liaison between team members and the director
- Oversee the daily operations of the Billing department, including:
- Payment posting, cash reconciliation, credit balance and refund processing.
- Coordinating with other teams as applicable
- Monitor performance and ensure quality assurance standards and benchmarks are met
- Examine processes to ensure accuracy and conformance to company policy and procedures
- Assist in identifying areas for improvement, recommending solutions to management, and developing policies and procedures applicable to the insurance and payment areas
- Provide supervision of the billing team, including hiring, onboarding, managing work schedules, training, and developing team members and performance reviews
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients
- Respond to client's questions and concerns in a thorough and timely manner. Handle escalations of issues that the team is not able to resolve and escalate to leadership when appropriate.
