Job summary:
Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Two (2) years of maintenance and custodial experience
- Ability to:
- Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
- Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance
- A current valid driver’s license
Skills required:
- Knowledge of:
- General carpentry and repair
- Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Common janitorial equipment (i.e. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (i.e vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)
- Ability to:
- Use power, and hand, tools
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Build good rapport with shareholders, clients and staff
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Job responsibilities:
- Inspects and identifies facilities, equipment or machines in need of repair
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
- Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of facilities
- Orders supplies and materials needed for cleaning, repairs, and maintenance
- Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment.
