The Host / Server’ s essential purpose is to be responsible for greeting and seating guests; should
provide general customer service within the dining establishment as well as escalate and / or
resolve any issues as necessary to ensure guest satisfaction. The following reflects the essential
job duties but does not restrict tasks that may be assigned. Duties of this job may be changed at
management’s discretion.
Duties include :
- Greet and welcome guests promptly and warmly; provide menus and seat the party, using
good judgment to ensure tables are distributed evenly among service stations.
Wash dishes
Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs.Accommodate special seating needs, such as extra chairs, booster seats and high chairsfor children.
Ensures any special needs or requests for diners are accommodated and arranged.Direct guests to waiting areas such as lounges.Ensure guests are seated promptly, be attentive at all times to guests seated in waitingareas or lounge.
Answer immediate questions about the menu, beverages etc., and alert the servers of anyspecial needs.
Inform guests of daily specials.Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, makingrecommendations upon request.
Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaningwhen needed.
Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens, fill salt,pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers, etc.
Take orders from guests for food or beverages when necessary.Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers,clients, co-workers, etc.
Answer telephone, take messages, take & confirm reservations, pre-plan seating forbalanced stations and take ""to go"" orders.
Ensure 100% accuracy of the order and special requests / needs of the guests.Assist kitchen staff in assembling ""to go"" orders, present the order to the guests, takeand process payments.
Assist servers in serving beverages, wine, cocktails.Perform opening or closing routines as scheduled, including cleaning tasks in the frontdesk / lobby area.
Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure thatdining details are handled properly, and guests' concerns are addressed.
Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correctany problems.
Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, andglassware.
Processes guest payments accurately and maintains an accurate cash drawer.Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment.Provide guests with accurate wait time estimates during busy periods.Learn food and beverage menu.Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.Requirements :
Restaurant experience a plus.Must be 18 years of age to carry alcoholic beverages.Have a clean, neat appearance & good personal hygiene at all times.Have a courteous, enthusiastic style of communication.Ability to communicate with guests.Flexible schedule, particularly for weekend / evening shifts and holidays.Ability to work 6 hours on your feet at a time.Good oral and written communication skills.Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters.Able to excel in a fast-paced, team environment with a sense of urgency in getting thingsdone.
