Reports To: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Description of Role: Candidate’s main responsibility, as a member of the Buildings and Grounds Department, is to help maintain a safe and clean campus for Severn’s Students, employees and visitors. Severn’s 22-acre campus includes three academic buildings, an Alumni Affairs/Development Building, a sports complex, four athletic fields, parking lots and eight residential houses.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Opening and closing of buildings; Maintain HV/AC systems; Maintain buildings and residences to include minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting; Maintain grounds to include picking up trash, emptying trash receptacles, sweeping sidewalks and cleaning entryway glasses; Deliver packages; clean and fill buses with gas and other fluids. Clean up spills as they occur.
Other Duties: Set-up and facilitate events such as: Assemblies, Homecoming Weekend, Alumni Weekend, Open House, Productions and Graduation. Set-up classrooms and offices. Other duties as assigned.
Seasonal Duties: Clean gutters and downspouts; Blow and rake leaves; Maintaining flower beds, bushes and trees; Remove snow and salt walkways; Trim bushes and trim trees as needed; Fill holes on playing fields.
Qualifications: Candidate must pass background check. Must be able to perform the following tasks: Climb ladders; Work with gas/electric powered tools; Drive a pickup; Drive an activity bus; Operate utility vehicles.
