Duties and Responsibilities
- Call insurance carriers and utilize insurance portals to handle insurance accounts receivable (AR) and verification of benefits.
- Process insurance claims for oral and maxillofacial procedures, including complex surgical cases.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and appeal denied claims.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and coding guidelines (CPT, ICD-10, and CDT codes).
- Manage all aspects of dental and medical billing processes, including filing insurance claims, posting EOBs, and working on patient accounts receivable.
- 2 years of experience in Oral Surgery insurance verification required including experience with complex cases is preferred.
- 2 years of experience in the coordination of medical and dental benefits including resolving unpaid claims through investigation and communication with insurances.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and dental/medical billing software.
- Strong knowledge of dental and medical insurance policies, billing procedures, and coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, organization and time management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with internal team members, insurance companies and patients.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and other software spreadsheets are preferred, as spreadsheets are utilized daily in this position.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
