SFG specializes in helping Medicare beneficiaries and their families. We represent all the major companies and products in the senior market so we can focus on our clients' needs. We are a truly independent brokerage, so you have many more tools at your disposal than working captively for a carrier.

This is a Knoxville, TN-based role that works in the office and community, collaborating with others, meeting clients, delivering Medicare educational seminars, and engaging in community events. It is NOT a remote position; only candidates based in or relocating to East Tennessee will be considered.

 

Sales Manager

 

The SFG Inside Sales Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and growing a team of employed (W2) insurance agents toward meeting or exceeding their sales production goals, building long-term client relationships, and working with stakeholders to plan and implement sales growth strategies. This team primarily conducts phone sales, in-person consultations, and frequent educational sessions to help beneficiaries understand Medicare and select the best plan for their unique needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • understands how to target messaging to diverse audiences
  • skilled at communicating by phone, in writing, on camera, and in person in both one-on-one and group settings
  • demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Medicare and the other products provided by SFG and is able to convey this knowledge to others
  • effectively navigates a CRM (Customer Relations Management system) and can train others in its usage, features, and best practices
  • able to intelligently answer questions and make recommendations about products
  • demonstrates success in closing sales and helping others do the same
  • able to lead a team to achieve goals with a commitment to learning new sales strategies and teaching others

 Responsibilities 

  • trains, coaches, and motivates a team of employed Medicare phone sales agents, leading the team to achieve individual and team goals
  • implements effective sales techniques and strategies to ensure company quotas are met by holding daily check-ins with the sales team to set objectives and monitor progress
  • performs weekly quality assurance evaluations, providing coaching and/or taking corrective action
  • utilizes call monitoring to help agents grow from good to great and provides regular feedback
  • creates and clearly communicates an overall phone sales strategy to support business objectives
  • oversees sales meetings and orientations for new and veteran agents
  • supports and actively contributes to a positive, results-oriented culture
  • conducts performance assessments and develops talent and bench strength for the entire company
  • maintains a consistent amount of personal production based on agreed goals to contribute to team success and stay current
  • works closely with marketing and business development to design and implement marketing campaigns and public relations initiatives, serving as a spokesperson and educator
  • deals with agents’ escalated issues to seek constructive outcomes
  • work on cross-functional teams to create rollout plans for new products, services, or technology as needed
  • develops and conducts training for new and existing products, services, or technology as needed

 

Basic Job Requirements:

 

  • BS/BA or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful B2C sales experience
  • Ability to obtain a TN life and health insurance license before starting
  • proven experience as a sales manager
  • proven people management and leadership experience
  • computer and internet proficiency, especially proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • experience working with a CRM (Customer Relations Management system)
  • proficient communication in English (verbal and written); excellent grammar and spelling
  • able to sit for long periods of time, able to enter information by keyboard at a reasonable rate of speed, able to hear well over the phone, able to see and read information on a computer screen and on printed documents, and able to physically navigate in-home consultations in a variety of settings
  • must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license; some local and regional (East Tennessee) travel required

To best serve our customers on the phone, face-to-face, or on the computer, all employees must be able to communicate with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit for extended periods (position is primarily sedentary), be able to enter information by keyboard at a reasonable rate of speed, must have acute hearing ability, be able to see and read information on a computer screen and printed documents, be able to speak, understand, and write English fluently, and perform repetitive hand motions.
