We are looking for a competent, detail-oriented Insurance Specialist to join our insurance team. Duties may include processing insurance claims, posting insurance payments and following up with insurance companies, as needed. Our Insurance Specialist should exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness, should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to work independently. Must be able to prioritize time, work efficiently and adapt well to continuous change.
Key Responsibilities
Process and monitor insurance billing and follow up of claims for multiple locations
Investigate historical data for unpaid insurance claims
Resolve insurance processing issues
Update account status records and collection efforts
Report on insurance collection activity and accounts receivable status
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proven experience as an Insurance Collection Specialist or similar role
Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques
Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
Comfortable working with targets
Patience and ability to manage stress
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Skilled in negotiation
Problem-solving skills
Education/ Experience
High school diploma
Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is a plus
Physical/ Environmental Requirements
Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, and bending, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing and using small hand tools.
This position requires average to above average visual acuity and hearing.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
