MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Provide support case management, and counseling services to 50 Higher Sights college participants.
- Responsible for identifying/recruiting college participants and maintaining a caseload of 50 participants.
- Facilitate monthly support groups as appropriate
- Complete personal care plan with participants and track progress of goal achievement.
- Monitor students’ schedules, credits received and GPAs to ensure students are staying on track.
- Instruct clients, individually or in groups, on mental health education topics.
- Contact students via video and in-person visits to monitor academic and social/emotional well-being (minimum 2 times per month)
- Identify college students who are eligible for financial aid and ensure they are applying.
- screening students for risk factors and referring to community resources to meet their needs
- Troubleshoot all issues students have with enrollment, schedules, financial aid, scholarships, classes, etc.
- Identify applicable scholarships for the students as a whole and individually.
- Identify and share job opportunities, internships, and externships.
- Research and create applicable workshops for students.
- Research and participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
- Connect program participants and their family to resources and opportunities from area schools, community organizations and partnered agencies.
- Maintain quarterly newsletter for university students.
- Maintain case notes and data management system.
- Maintain current intake and consent documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education
- Master’s in behavioral sciences or any other closely related field with 3 years of experience working in case management and/or home visitation required. Competence in providing supportive services to adults and adolescents. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a college student services role preferred, but not required
- At least three years of professional experience mentoring students
- 1-3 years of recruiting experience
- Well versed with college student timelines
Other:
- A clear understanding of the population being served.
- Demonstrated track record of strong engagement skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals, and community groups.
- Have a thorough knowledge of community resources and services
- Must have a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to transport oneself to and from work sites.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- Constantly moves to assist during program activities.
- At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classrooms and event needs.
- Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions.
- May require evening and/or weekend availability.
