Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage all aspects of agency public grants program, including timely submissions, tracking continuation and renewal timelines, and supporting program staff with reporting by editing documents as needed
- Prepare and submit funding applications/reapplications/proposals to local, state and federal government agencies.
- Create innovative, competitive program designs that respond to funding opportunities and align with agency principles and growth strategy
- Responsible for thorough review of Notice of Funding Opportunity documents and ensuring that instructions are followed
- Responsible for writing, editing, drafting letters of agreement, MOUs, budget development, completing forms, completing research on social determinants/demographic information, etc.
- Supervises, trains and evaluates performance of staff; works with HR to recruit, hire, and retain staff.
- Participate in virtual and in-person funder meetings across service communities
- Prepare marketing presentations as needed for funder meetings in support of proposal submissions
- Manage private grants program, including researching prospects and managing and completing submissions
- Maintain spreadsheets of proposals under consideration, pending applications and current contracts and timelines
- Assist in responding to various governmental agency requests for contract-related document
- Assist in research of government funding proposal opportunities.
- Work collaboratively to maintain organization of contract filing system.
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
- Excellent writing skills are necessary.
- Must have strong project management skills and experience
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro.
- Must be able to make informed decisions quickly, related to budget, program design and other application elements
- Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate ability to think strategically.
- Ability to work cooperatively on shared projects.
- Demonstrate innovation, initiative, and the ability to take responsibility for projects and work independently when needed.
- Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks.
- Must meet deadlines.
- Display excellent organization skills and ability to move quickly from one task to another.
- Display sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in SGA’s service population.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s level degree,
- Minimum five years’ experience in grant writing or technical writing and proven success obtaining funding from both private sources and government agencies.
- Minimum three years’ experience supervising staff
- Experience working in online funding portals
