General Purpose

This includes focusing on program fiscal activity monitoring and analyzing, month-end closing tasks, year-end audit tasks, outside agency audit tasks, and other job-related duties as assigned. This should be accomplished by thoroughly understanding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Staff Accountant/Accounting Supervisor will be expected to account for and report on Federal, State and City Government grants and contracts, as well as contributions and grants from private donors.

This should be accomplished by thoroughly understanding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Staff Accountant/Accounting Supervisor will be expected to account for and report on Federal, State and City Government grants and contracts, as well as contributions and grants from private donors.
Main Job Tasks And Responsibilities
- Monitors and maintains the General Ledger through both Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable Clerk
- Assists in preparing and submitting all Cost reports, Reimbursement vouchers and other fiscal monitoring information based on funder required frequency.
- Performs tasks related to the month-end close, year-end close, and outside agency audit projects.
- Assures all expenditures are captured, reported and requested for reimbursement for all reimbursable grants and contracts.
- Prepares Federal, State and other regulatory funding agency cost reports, and explains variances with these financial documents.
- Assists prepare the annual agency budget, and other budgets required by the Grants and Development department when it is needed.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of contractual obligations and other pertinent matters as set forth in the business transactions of the Agency.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- 1. BA/BS in Accounting
- 3-5 years of experience (paid working), none for profit preferred but not required 3. strong analytical skill, DGP experience preferred but not required
- Experience with Human Service and/or Community-Based Service experience preferable.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamic, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, inventory software; and project management software is preferable.
- Must have strong work ethics
- Must be well organized and a self-starter
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, solid accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with staff and operational management
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Education and Experience
