Title: Unit Supervisor
Location: Rock Valley, IA USA 51247
Duration: 01 Year (Possible Extension)
Metatarsal boots required for 1st day
Second Shift Monday through Thursday 2:30pm to 1:00am 10 hour days
Description:
As a supervisor you will be responsible for leading a second shift team including material replenishment, fork truck operations, picking orders and inbound material processing to ensure execution within established delivery, quality, and safety and cost standards of the business. The focus of this position is executing multiple warehouse processes.
Roles/responsibilities
- Be responsible for ensuring employees are working in a safe work environment in a productive manner. In addition, you will:
- Lead continuous improvement activities for the facility resulting in improvements in key outcome metrics
- Administer employee policies, practices, procedures, and work rules appropriate for the unit. Monitor individual and departmental performance and take corrective action including discipline, as needed, and respond to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures and work rules
- Foster a positive work environment through good and clear communication practices. Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instructions and tools to successfully do their job
- Determine work priorities based on the production schedule and make daily assignments including filling vacancies and assigning overtime to adhere to departure deadlines
Required Skills
- 1 or more years of experience with shop floor warehousing, incentive pay systems such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan) and work measurement
- 1 or more years of experience in budgeting, forecasting and scheduling
- 3 or more years of experience of demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience
- 1 or more years of experience with Production Control systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with both salary and wage personnel
- Ability to work multiple shifts and work overtime as required, including some weekend work
What makes you stand out
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Working knowledge of the Continuous Improvement Process (CI) and 5S methodology
- Experience with capacity and manpower planning
- Proven record of driving/improving engagement (leading change)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or 3 years of related work experience
