Job Description
The Chemist III, E&L will serve as a technical resource for other analysts in the E&L group. Lead the team in analytical techniques and analysis of data. Perform sample preparation, GC-MS/FID and/or LC-MS/PDA and/or ICP-MS/OES analysis on extractable and leachable (E&L) testing of pharmaceutical containers and medical devices.
Job Functions
- Independently operates, maintains, and troubleshoots LC-MS/PDA and/or GC-MS/FID instruments.
- Service as a technical resource for unknown identification of E&L compounds by LC-MS and GC-MS.
- Independently perform method development of target leachables in drug product matrix.
- Write and review protocols and reports for E&L studies.
- Review data and results for E&L Studies.
- Train analysts on instrument techniques and methods.
- Attend and present at technical conferences to demonstrate technical expertise to potential clients.
- Performs duties according to LSS Global direction and in compliance with cGMP and GLP regulations and SGS Integrity programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related science degree, with over 5 years of related analytical instrumentation experience on GC-MS/FID and/or LC-MS/PDA including over 3 years Extractable and Leachables (E&L) experience.
- PhD in Chemistry or a related science degree, with over 5 years of related analytical instrumentation experience on GC-MS/FID and/or LC-MS/PDA including over 1 years Extractable and Leachables (E&L) experience.
- Solid knowledge of chemistry on structure elucidation of unknown extractable and leachable compounds by LC-MS and GC-MS.
- Good knowledge of E&L regulations and study designs.
- Previous E&L protocol and report writing experience.
- Previous leachables method development and validation experience.
- General knowledge of chemistry and knowledge of various analytical techniques and methodologies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
- Ability to work well with others & independently.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
