Shaffer is seeking a Senior Accountant to be the next talented addition to our accounting team at a fun family-owned business. The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for day to day accounting operations, oversight of month & year end close and supervising members of the accounting team. Strong leadership skills, proactive follow up and attention to detail are paramount to the success of the position. Some specific duties include:
- Leadership, management and accountability of direct reports
- Maintain and manage close checklist to assist with accurate and timely close
- Prepare accruals and reconciliations associated with key accounts
- Initiate & review journal entries
- Carry out banking transfers and investigations
- Liaise on AP and AR matters
- Review weekly accounts payable run
- Assist with annual audit and year-end close
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least 2 years of accounting experience, including:
- General month end accounting close experience related to journal entries and reconciliations
- Treasury management
- Financial statement review of inputs and outputs
- 1-2 Years of management experience and/or desire to lead, manage and be accountable for direct reports
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Proactive and organized
- Team Player Mentality
- At least Intermediate level MS Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, a plus
