What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance/Controller position at Shaker Logistics?
Job Overview: The Director of Finance/Controller will be responsible for the integrity of financial reporting. This includes a strong control environment, drive for continuous improvement, delivering solid customer service, reporting of financial results and remediation of any identified issues. This position must provide sound business, operational, and strategic guidance as well as financial leadership to the organization.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive monthly and annual financial close and reporting, streamlining and automating processes where possible.
- Oversee treasury functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and expense management.
- Direct responsibility for the management, training and performance of the accounting team, including oversight of all daily transaction processing and posting.
- Assess current accounting operations and identify opportunities for improvement, implementing new processes and technology as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and filings as well as organizational procedures
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
- Collaborate with Executive team to lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including accounting, banking, legal and other firms.
- Conduct periodic audits of all financial compliance areas, not just taxes, to ensure that the company is adhering to all relevant regulations
- Maintain strong communication with other departments to facilitate efficient financial operations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7 years of professional accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- CPA strongly recommended
- Past experience as a Controller or Director of Finance preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting software's, including Quickbooks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solver with the ability to take the initiative and figure out how to get projects done.
- Sound judgment and good problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to instill discipline in the organization and help advise leadership team.
- Team-oriented by nature, with a collaborative, inclusive, and hands-on leadership style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with system integrations and automations is a plus.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
