The Director of Finance/Controller oversees the financial operations of SVHC. The role involves overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis to support organizational goals, optimize resource allocation, and drive operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The director plays a key role in providing data driven insights to guide decision-making, manage financial risks, and support delivery of quality patient care.
Essential functions of this role include:
1. Plan and oversee all of the activities of the finance staff which includes General Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Financial Reporting.
2. Work collaboratively with the department managers to develop, monitor, and manage annual budget to ensure financial performance aligns with the organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Prepare reports and present to the Executive Management Team, Board Finance Committee and the State of Vermont.
3. Coordinate the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial and statistical statements, reports and analyzes for leadership, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principals (GAAP) and healthcare regulations.
4. Provide data driven insights and analysis to inform decision making, identify cost saving opportunities and improve operation efficiency.
5. Coordinate and prepare annual audit, tax returns, cost reports, and any other regulatory reporting as required by third party payers and government agencies.
6. Design, review and maintain Internal Control Policy to safeguard assets, prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of the financial information.
7. Manage and mentor accounting and finance staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance.
8. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Accounting or related field required, with Masters in Business Administration preferred. 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in healthcare financial management. 2-3 years in a supervisory/management role. CPA preferred.
