Position Summary
The Wardrobe Staff serves as a part of the show-running crew, working backstage on one outdoor Shakespeare production and on one indoor Shakespeare production during the summer.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Preparation of costumes for each performance;
- Assisting actors into and out of costumes;
- Presetting backstage changes and performing quick changes;
- Resetting costumes at the end of show;
- Maintenance including hand sewing backstage;
- Daily cleaning of costumes and occasionally, wigs;
- Other shop duties as time permits.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics Sought
- Previous wardrobe experience;
- Familiarity with or working understanding of basic garment construction;
- Ability to hand- and machine-sew;
- Good organizational and people skills;
- Regular, punctual attendance with a positive attitude and energy;
- Consistent availability as a part of a show-running crew;
- An interest in working on live theater performance;
- A commitment to values of anti-racism and anti-oppression and personal and/or professional experiences advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility;
- Experience in working and communicating effectively with groups of individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences;
- Ability to climb stairs or ladders and to lift 50 lbs.;
- Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen and booster, if eligible, prior to employment term, and willingness to test weekly or more as per Company safety guidelines (at Company expense).
Compensation
This hourly, non-Exempt, at-will employee will receive $15.00 to $16.00 per hour ($600 to $640 per week is typical). Local housing can be available. Overtime will be provided when weeks exceed 40 hours.
