Job Summary
Shalom Wildlife Zoo is looking for a hard-working individual who is passionate about animals, education, and customer service.
Zookeepers are responsible for all aspects of running a zoo, including animal care, grounds maintenance, and customer service.
Position includes every other weekend and holiday. Ten hour shifts, primarily day shift.
Responsibilities and Duties
Time will be divided between these three categories:
1. Animal Care (feeding, cleaning, recordkeeping, and general animal wellness)
2. Grounds Maintenance & Cleaning (mowing, snow removal, tree removal, fence repair, gift shop cleaning, and other similar duties)
3. Customer Service (Guest admissions, school children & visitor education, gift shop cashiering)
Qualifications and Skills
Ideal candidate will have experience with animals and using equipment, along with a positive attitude.
Must have a Bachelor's degree in zookeeping or related field.
Requirements:
Great written and oral communication.
Ability to work alone without supervision.
Troubleshooting skills.
Ability to think ahead.
Attention to detail.
Basic mechanical skill.
Able to lift 75 pounds.
Able to work during inclimate weather.
Common sense.
Able to work 10 hour days and every other weekend and holidays.
Honesty and truthful.
Able to stay focused.
Able to follow instructions both verbally and written.
Desire to provide superior animal care at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
