ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the planning and purchase of necessary components for manufacturing and MRO items.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the activities of the Purchasing Department.
- Responsible for planning, purchasing and inventory supply.
- Negotiates with vendors to obtain quotes and to secure consistent supplies and competitive prices.
- Evaluates vendor services to determine if they are compatible with organization objectives.
- Monitors quality of goods by reviewing costs, schedules, timeliness of delivery and conformance to specifications.
- Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory at the appropriate levels.
- Works with inventories to ensure proper planning and establishes whether inventory is obsolete or discontinued.
- Performs all duties pertaining to sourcing of materials for company’s production to include negotiating pricing with vendors and assuring all materials are shipped in a timely manner.
- Maintains item quotation and pricing files and visit suppliers as required.
- Leads strategies in line with company initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.
- Manages material savings initiatives in line with overall business objectives.
- Ensure the ERP system is updated to date with the most recent customer demand forecasts.
- Navigate urgent customers requests and supply shortages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL/SKILLS NEEDED:
- Knowledge of extrinsic factors relating to commodities purchased is needed.
- Good problem-solving capabilities, able to assist team members with problems in a prompt manner.
- Experienced in working independently, yet able to work in a team environment.
- Able to adjust to customer demands, supply chain challenges.
- Ability to have balance between having the discipline to work within the systems and navigate outside the systems.
- Good interpersonal skills, friendly, pleasant and professional, able to project that on the telephone while talking to vendors.
- English comprehension including speaking, reading, and writing is required for our business's necessity to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
- Critical thinking, able to process information quickly and make decisions.
- Must be flexible with the ability to work with ever-changing demands of customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A four-year degree in business management, engineering, supply chain mgmt. or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.
- Food manufacturing experience is preferred.

- Exposure to food allergens such as, but not limited to, milk eggs, tree nuts, wheat, and soybeans will occur.
