We are searching for a Full time Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physiotherapy Assistant to join our Maplestone Enhanced Care Team based in Halifax.

About the Opportunity

Prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy

Administers and assists residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT, such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, ADLs;

Assists residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist

Documents according to policy and procedures (e.g. Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents etc.).

Observes and monitors residents’ response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT / OT;

Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections

About You

You have a Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma from an approved college or you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. If you are currently enrolled in these programs, your application will be considered.

U-first training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset.

Previous experience working in a long-term care environment would also be considered an asset.

You have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles.
