Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and clean relevant tools, equipment and supplies for project use.
- Secure tools, supplies and equipment from damage and theft.
- Always maintain and promote a safe work environment.
- Follow instructions and procedures related to materials testing and measurements.
- Assist in the operation of specialized materials testing equipment relating to drilling, excavation, Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data collection, among others.
- Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned your supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0 to 4 years of experience as a field technician or equipment operator.
- A valid driver license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with the appropriate level of supervision.
- Ability to accurately record field notes and sketches to document work.
- Welding and mechanical skills and certifications are desirable.
- Basic computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, Autodesk AutoCad is desirable.
- Critical thinking and analysis; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting/carrying 30 pounds; working in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain; field visits per project needs; ability to travel (drive or fly) to other Shannon & Wilson offices, and to and from job sites locally and out of state.
*Arrangements and payment for training will be made for the successful applicant after their hire date.
Level Placement
Typically, depending on an applicant's education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, an intermittent Entry-Level Field/Lab Technician typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Technical Services I or II level.
