Position Summary:
The Players Assistant/Starter is responsible for providing a high level of service to Shanty Creek Resorts customers in an informative, courteous and friendly manner. The Starter/Players Assistants should be knowledgeable about resort events and activities and be able to assist Shanty Creek's guests with any questions. Due to the nature of these positions the ranger must be demonstrative and pleasant at the same time, in order to coordinate all the tee-times and to assure all players of completing the golf course in an orderly and expedient fashion.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Starter Duties:
- Assure the orderly flow of play in accordance with the posted tee-times, rotating players as needed.
- Keep a record of all starting times, rounds played which includes cart usage.
- Post the condition of the play for the day.
- Maintain an adequate supply of scorecards, pencils and tee-time cards at the starter’s booth at all times.
- Make sure each player has own set of clubs.
- Make sure all riders have checked in at the Pro shop and are on a cart with the player.
- Maintain radio contact with the Pro Shop at all times
Players Assistant Duties
- Check with the Pro Shop for any unusual or special instructions, such as cart paths only etc.
- Make sure you have a tee sheet.
- Make sure you have a radio in working condition, a first aid kit and also an air horn.
- Keep pace of play moving.
- Pick up any trash and replace ropes where down, check water coolers, check bathrooms and fill in any divots that you see.
- Direct the flow of traffic and enforce the resorts' rules and regulations.
- Assist and instruct players in the code of etiquette.
- Oversee golf course grounds and assist players with any on course problems.
- Must carry a timepiece.
- Other duties as assigned.
Guest Service/Conduct:
Personal and professional accountability is an important aspect of employment with Shanty Creek Resorts. To that end, all Shanty Creek employees are required to adhere to Resort policies and standards of conduct while providing our guests with the highest level of service possible. No matter their position, all members of our staff may have opportunities to interact with our guests on a daily basis, therefore all employees must:
- Meet, on a daily basis, the personal appearance and uniform standards as identified by the Shanty Creek Resorts Employee Handbook.
- Utilize all tools provided to ensure that prompt and correct service and information is being given to our guests.
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, maintaining the highest standards of guest service in their interactions with fellow employees, vendors, and most importantly our guests.
- This position requires extensive guest contact and decisions that directly affect the experience of Shanty Creek Resorts’ group clients. Adherence to the Resorts’ standards of service is critical to the success of the incumbent.
Professional Experience:
No minimum level of experience is required for this position, however extensive experience playing the game of golf is necessary.
Education:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency is required for this position.
Required Skills:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have strong working knowledge of golf rules of play.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
