A material handler, also known as a warehouse associate, is responsible for moving, storing, and handling materials in a warehouse or production facility. Their duties include:
Role and Responsibilities- Receiving and storing: Receiving shipments, verifying contents, and storing materials in secure locations
- Loading and unloading: Loading and unloading delivery items
- Maintaining inventory: Maintaining inventory records, including adding or deleting supplies as they are received or shipped
- Reviewing shipments: Reviewing shipments for quality and accuracy, and confirming shipping details
- Fulfilling orders: Fulfilling orders and ensuring deliveries match purchase orders
- Disposing of materials: Disposing of expired materials while adhering to safety practices
- Cleaning: Cleaning machinery and keeping loading and docking areas clear
- Answering phones: Answering phones and providing information to customers
- Preparing damage claims: Preparing damage claims for a supervisor's review and signature
- All other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center
- Ability to operate material handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read, write and speak in English
Physical
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs,
- Bend, stoop, and stand or walk for long periods of time.
