Job Overview
The Senior Accountant will contribute to the company’s day-to-day operations including preparing, examining, or analyzing accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. This role places heavy emphasis on accurate tracking and reporting of manufacturing costs and preparing financial reports to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses.
- Develops systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or Cost Accounting functions.
- Determines fixed costs such as salaries, rent, and insurance.
- Predicts, plans, and records variable costs, such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
- Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies.
- Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports.
- Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins.
- Performs month-end and year-end closings with assistance.
- Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions.
- Provides product costs for General Accounting.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Coordinates when appropriate with software support consultants to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Performs all tasks safely and maintain a clean organized work environment.
- Maintains cooperative and professional interactions.
- Works additional hours as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree and two to four years related experience or equivalent related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting methods.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products
- Superior grasp of prioritization and sense of urgency
- Able to understand task directions and work directives that are communicated in English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Satisfactory interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
