Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP, is a Boston based, plaintiff-side class action litigation law firm. We seek a Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant to help us prosecute our complex cases against large corporations. We require our employees to possess superior intellect, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
We are looking for a bright, responsible, independent-thinking person with an interest in the law. Many of our former Paralegals / Legal Assistants have gone on to law school. Applicants must have strong research and computer skills as well as an ability to learn on the job.
The role of our Paralegal / Legal Assistant involves multiple responsibilities, including :
- Drafting basic motions & notices
- Summarizing deposition or trial transcripts
- Proofreading and cite-checking complaints and briefs
- Reviewing discovery documents
- Assisting in deposition and exhibit preparation
- Assisting attorneys at depositions and court hearings
- Conducting factual research using online resources such as Google, Lexis, and Law360
- Electronically filing documents with courts
- Downloading court filings from Electronic Court Filings (ECFs)
- Maintaining calendars and time entries
- Responding to new case inquiries and investigating potential claims
- Communicating with class members and plaintiffs
- General administrative tasks, including correspondence, document management and organization, mail intake, and answering phones.
