Position Title: 4-8 ESOL Part Time Teacher
Location: Shapleigh School
Reports to: Curriculum Coordinator
Position Start Date: 2025/26 School Year
Required Certification: CHRC & Maine DOE 660 endorsement and certified K-12 ESL

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a Part Time English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) teacher for the 2025/26 school year. This position is at Shapleigh School (grades 4-8).
The ideal candidate for this position must hold a MAINE DOE 66o endorsement or be eligible for it(certified in K-12 in ESL). Ability to speak Spanish is helpful, but not essential.
The candidate must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
Responsibilities:
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for small group instruction
Assess individual needs
Facilitate ILAP meetings
Collaborate with classroom teachers and grade level teams to coordinate services and provide support to students within the grade-level curriculum
Communicate and engage with families, helping to create a school-to home relationship
Travel between buildings
Create district-wide ESOL services based on state-issued guidelines
Conduct ACCESS testing
Requirements
660 Endorsement
Shows understanding of the language acquisition process
Coordinates the identification of English Learners (certified to administer the WIDA Screener)
Sensitive to cultural backgrounds and identities
