The Senior Manager will be responsible for helping to grow and support a relatively new body of work on Summer EBT. The Senior Manager will help lead the strategy development on and oversee the execution of summer EBT efforts to identify and share best practices in expanding access to the program, develop tools and resources that facilitate program improvement and access, foster cross-state learning, and communicate effective practices through conferences, webinars, and issue briefs.
This position can be based in Washington, DC (hybrid 2 days in the office); but could be fully remote for the right candidate living outside of the DC area 30 miles or more. The position offers a range of $81,000 to $87,000. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build deep programmatic expertise in Summer EBT, serving as a technical resource for staff and public and private program partners.
- Manage and support the coordination across teams working on Summer EBT.
- Manage key summer EBT projects, including those focused on outreach and communication with families, schools, and community partners, and best practice sharing across state agencies.
- Manage the Summer EBT community of practice of state, Tribe, and territory agencies and support convenings, including coordination, content and session creation, presentation, and facilitation of sessions.
- Develop resources highlighting Summer EBT best practices and learnings for state agencies and community partners, and materials and resources for how families can access Summer EBT.
- Manage and support information collection and synthesize learnings across states where Share Our Strength is investing more deeply.
- Provide expertise to support state No Kid Hungry campaigns, advocacy, and policy teams work at the state and federal levels.
- Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization and ensure this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
- Travel up to 15%
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required, or equivalent lived experience, professional and work experience.
- 5-8 years work experience focusing on public benefits programs; experience administering SNAP/Summer EBT or working with state SNAP/Summer EBT agencies a plus.
- Experience providing training, technical assistance, strategic planning or consulting services to nonprofit organizations, state agency staff and/or educators/school personnel.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
- Excellent facilitation, listening, and communication skills (verbal and written), including experience presenting to high-level audiences and communicating complex or technical information in webinars and conferences.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
