Position: Health Care/Office Manager
Reports: Associate Director of Operations and Site Director
Overview:
The Healthcare Manager is responsible for overseeing and administering the health and wellness of all campers and staff at TIC Summer Camp. This role requires swift decision-making, strong organizational skills, and the ability to provide first aid, medication administration, and emergency response while maintaining accurate health records. The Healthcare Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy camp environment. Current nursing students are ideal candidates.
Qualifications:
- Valid MAT (Medication Administration Training) and First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain before the start of camp. Current RN, LPN, or EMT certification is a plus.
- Experience in healthcare or a related field, preferably in a pediatric or school setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to document and relay health information effectively.
- Ability to make level-headed, quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Calm and professional demeanor when working with campers, staff, and parents.
1. Health & Safety Supervision
- Serve as the primary health care provider on site, addressing illness and injuries promptly and appropriately.
- Administer first aid and medication following established protocols and under the direction of TIC’s consulting physician.
- Act as a liaison between the site and the Executive Director/Director of Operations regarding health concerns.
2. Record Keeping & Communication
- Maintain accurate health records for all campers and staff, including daily logs of incidents and Workers’ Compensation reports.
- Review all camper and staff health forms, preparing "Medical Notes" to inform staff of special health considerations before each session.
- Communicate with camp families regarding camper health concerns, illnesses, or medication needs.
3. Training & Preparedness
- Organize and present a health care workshop during staff orientation, educating staff on TIC’s health policies and procedures.
- Maintain and manage first aid supplies, ensuring the camp is equipped for emergencies.
- Interact with parents of campers who have special health needs to ensure proper care and accommodations.
4. Camp Community & Support
- Performs various administrative duties: answers telephone, records daily attendance for campers and staff, etc.
- Aid directors during daily operations, and provide/receive feedback to immediate supervisor on a regular basis.
- Support staff and campers in maintaining good hygiene and safety practices throughout the day.
5. Physical Aspects of the Job:
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and provide necessary medical care.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a camp setting.
- Ability to visually and audibly assess camper health concerns.
- Be an active and positive role model in the TIC community, engaging in camp activities when possible.
General Information:
- Staff training plus 4 two-week sessions. June 10-August 8
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM (Full-time, short-term position)
- Compensation: Based on skill, experience, and education. Paid bi-weekly via direct deposit. Attendance bonus for completion of all nine weeks.
- Housing: TIC is a day camp with no residential facilities; out-of-town staff must arrange their own housing.
