Pay Range:                           The pay rate for this role is $68,640 per year.
 
Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
 
Position Overview
The Event Presentation Specialist, in collaboration with the Event Presentation Manager, will be integral in creating best-in-class live event experiences for the San Jose Sharks and will focus on four event presentation elements: entertainment/talent, the Coca-Cola Tank Patrol, live game management and gameday logistics/planning with internal departments.  The position will require a proactive attitude, independent judgment and discretion, and the desire to constantly improve the fan experience with innovative entertainment elements.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Entertainment and Live Game Production:
    • Work in conjunction with Director, Manager and production department staff to plan and execute Sharks game production & presentation 
    • Collaborate with the Director and Manager during live game production, specifically managing in-arena elements, on-ice activities and entertainment
    • Work with Corporate Partnership, Marketing, Community, Ticket Sales and Youth Hockey to support their live game activations, as well as brainstorm on potential future opportunities
    • Develop features and other engaging concepts for events and key sponsors – from planning to execution
    • Assist with the presentation and production of special events and promotions (opening nights, theme nights, ceremonies, post-season games, etc.) and special team events (fan fests, watch parties, etc.)
    • Lead in-game production in the absence of the Manager, Event Presentation or as needed. 
  • Tank Patrol:
    • Interview, schedule and provide work direction to the Coca-Cola Tank Patrol staff, who are responsible for Sharks in-game entertainment and the team that promotes a positive fan experience at every Sharks home game
    • Design uniforms and manage the uniform inventory of the Coca-Cola Tank Patrol along with all promotional items/giveaways that the Coca-Cola Tank Patrol distributes.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Marketing or Communications preferred
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in game presentation, live entertainment and sports promotions or related
  • Experience with an NHL or AHL hockey team is preferred
  • Must be able to work all Sharks home games (and other select company events) and see projects through completion in a fast-paced environment
  • Mindset should be consumer-focused
  • Ability to work in a team setting and create new ideas to maximize impact
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and organize work according to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on department goals
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Experience managing part-time staff is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain quality working relationships with several internal departments, especially sales staff, as well as external agencies.
  • It is imperative that you have the ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.  
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills, as well as ability to manage your own time and implement your own schedule.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
  • Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
  • May be required to travel to other company locations  
  • May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
