We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Gastroenterology (GI) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The NP will work closely with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with digestive disorders. This role involves both outpatient and inpatient care, including performing assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients on gastrointestinal health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and physical examinations of patients with GI-related conditions.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, including GERD, IBS, IBD (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), liver disease, and other digestive health issues.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging studies, and endoscopic results.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, lifestyle modifications, and therapeutic interventions.
- Assist in the management of patients undergoing GI procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, and biopsies.
- Provide patient education on dietary and lifestyle modifications for GI health.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Document patient interactions, diagnoses, and treatment plans accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay updated on the latest advancements in gastroenterology.
- Licensure & Certification:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in CA.
- BLS/ACLS certification.
- Prior experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or a related specialty is preferred.
- Proficiency in ordering and interpreting GI-related diagnostic tests.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
