What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENTERPRISE EDITOR position at Shaw Media?
Shaw Media is seeking an editor to lead its enterprise coverage of important stories that impact communities across Northern Illinois. The enterprise editor will collaborate with local editors and reporters to expand the company’s in-depth reporting utilizing our digital, broadcast and print platforms. Over time, the enterprise editor will build a team of reporters and columnists focused solely on regional and state issues. The enterprise editor reports directly to the executive editor and will be a key member of the editorial management team.
About Shaw Media:
Shaw Media publishes over 150 titles in Illinois and Iowa. Its holdings include websites, newspapers, magazines, nine radio stations, and a digital marketing services division. Founded in Dixon, Illinois, Shaw Media has been privately owned by the Shaw family since its inception in 1851.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Shaw Media’s enterprise reporting efforts
- Collaborate with local editors and reporters on story ideas
- Over time, develop a network of reporters, stringers and outside contributors
- Serve as a member of the company’s Editorial Board
- Oversee the company’s editorial pages
- Fill in for local editors as schedules require
- Although not required, the ability to provide a weekly column is a definite plus
Qualifications:
- Five years in a newsroom environment
- Two years newsroom supervisory experience
- Degree in journalism or related field
- Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and insurance
