Job Summary: The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Department with timely and accurate monthly close duties, treasury management, transaction processing and compliance reporting. This position interacts with various departments and requires excellent customer service, which will be accomplished with effective communication, problem solving, organization, responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Treasury Management
- Prepare cash requirements schedule and roll-forward for weekly cash disbursements across multiple entities and bank accounts.
- Ensure proper payment terms are followed.
- Handle remote desktop check deposits. Post check, wire and ACH deposits to the accounting system and ensure timely delivery of project team notifications.
- Manage positive pay and ACH filters. Monitor bank accounts, emails, etc. for attempted fraud and escalate concerns to management.
- Record daily ZBA and sweep activity, payroll prefunding, intercompany transfers and other cash transactions.
- Approve ACH payments and Paymode-X payments.
- Research and resolve discrepancies between bank balances and the general ledger.
- Process voids and stop payments.
Monthly Close
- Perform monthly cutoff procedures to facilitate timely and accurate accounting and financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Post monthly corporate card transactions and work with cardholders to code receipts timely and accurately.
- Maintain various contra and clearing accounts.
- Perform various reconciliations.
Other
- Regularly support accounting management and others with requests.
- Provide additional support for Accounts Payable, as needed.
- Assist with various technology / process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required
- Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- Solid grasp of fundamental accounting principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service, communication, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; 10-key by touch.
Preferred
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- Construction, Homebuilding or similar industry experience.
- Experience with A/R, A/P and Banking.
- Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista and Textura.
Compensation:
- Pay Type: Salary
- Pay Range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
- Other Compensation: Bonus commensurate with individual performance, company performance, and experience.
