The Business Systems Analyst (Accounting) plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial and accounting functionality is maintained and evolved within the Shaw Systems Spectrum™ platform. The Business Systems Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams, analyzes and authors system requirements, diagnoses issues, determines solutions, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and contributes with software testing. We are seeking detail-oriented, analytical, and technical candidates with a passion for making significant contributions to the product evolution of an industry leading software platform.
Responsibilities
- System Analysis and Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs related to accounting processes within the loan servicing system.
- Leverage accounting education and/or practical experience to guide creation of detailed requirements, including data flows, business rules, and system interactions.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for system enhancements or modifications.
- Financial Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy.
- Work closely with development and quality assurance teams to implement system changes that align with accounting best practices.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to all accounting features of our platform(s).
- Data Integrity and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate transaction processing, reconciliation and balancing of general ledgers, and validation within Shaw Systems Spectrum™ platform.
- Collaborate with clients, regulators, sales staff, and internal stakeholders to demonstrate compliance of the Spectrum™ platform with all accounting standards.
- User Training and Support:
- Train end-users on accounting-related features of the Spectrum™ platform.
- Provide ongoing support, address user inquiries, and troubleshoot system-related issues.
- Collaborate with the Documentation Team to refine and revise the Spectrum™ accounting related Configuration and User Guides.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with accounting, finance, and IT teams to bridge gaps and align system functionality with business needs.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, workshops, and project discussions.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as a business analyst, preferably in loan servicing or financial systems.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Location
This position may work from any of the following locations: Hybrid office schedule if within 75 miles of the Houston, TX. Remote with the ability to travel at least 5% from the following states: Texas if more than 75 miles from the office location, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanner, filing systems.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 8 am to 5 pm, or 9 am to 6 pm. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.
