Purpose of this position
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement an activity program in compliance with requirements to meet residents needs.
Must be committed to person-centered care by embracing and following the facilitys goal of person-centered care by demonstrating and being supportive of individual resident choice and controlled resident-preferred routines in all aspect of daily living.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience in a recreational program in a health care facility
Licensed or registered by the State and certified or eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation or completed training course approved by the State.
Ability to read and write, speak and understand English.
Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and facility staff
Ability to make oral presentations to groups and individuals
Ability to organize, plan and work autonomously
Ability to teach, direct and supervise people and motivate residents into meaningful activities
Attributes of flexibility, patience and creativity
Ability to acquire knowledge of, comprehend and work under Federal, State and local regulations and facility policies, procedures and programs
Ability to perform effectively under stress
Ability to direct, delegate and follow-up on programs and care of the residents
Meet all health requirements imposed by law.
