Position Summary:
As a Drayage Development Representative, your role will involve delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. You will also work closely with carriers, Customers and colleagues to find solutions to any issues that arise. Our team provides the necessary support and resources to help you thrive in your role and build a meaningful career.
Essential Functions:
- Understanding the company's values, products, and services.
- Take pride in researching and continually pursuing new carrier and customer acquisition through cold-calling and lead generation.
- Applying a strategic sales approach to foster positive relationships with company key contacts. Resolving problems and expanding industry knowledge.
- Be the primary point of accountability for carriers strategically matching, negotiating, and booking available equipment with available freight for transactional and dedicated opportunities.
- Leveraging technology platforms to make informed decisions, negotiate prices, and drive automation.
- Work closely with customer operations, prioritizing customer service and providing the best career for the company's safety and integrity.
- Understanding transportation-related market conditions and how they correlate and impact port operations, rail yards, equipment shortages and container movement.
Education and/or Experience:
- Education: College graduate
- Experience: 2-5 years intermodal logistics sales.
- An understanding of market conditions, pricing strategies, and drayage operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with CRM tools, TMS, and Microsoft Office
- Build relationships with carriers
- Manage protected carriers
- Execute negotiations with carriers
- Source carrier capacity
- Master market trends and seasonality
- Convert new relationships into repeat business
- Develop carrier relationships and contacts at multiple levels
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 salary plus commission.
Uncapped commission plan - watch your money grow money.
Work Location: Work from one of Sheers offices in Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, Dallas or remote
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions.
