What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Coodinator, Food position at Shef?
Operations Coordinator
What We Do
At Shef, we are bringing weekly personal chef services to busy families in a convenient and affordable format. We believe in providing amateur and professional chefs an opportunity to grow their own meal delivery businesses and make a meaningful income by doing what they love! Every person should have access to a wholesome, home-cooked meal at an affordable price.
We have raised nearly $90M from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Craft Ventures, and M13, as well as founders and executives from Instacart, TaskRabbit, StubHub, AngelList, Lyft, Airbnb, and Yelp. We have a ton of exciting work ahead of us and are excited to have you join us!
Role
We are looking for an operationally-minded teammate to execute on the day-to-day on-the-ground operations. You will ensure deliveries safely make their way from chefs to consumers and serve as the face of Shef to chefs (“shefs”) in our markets. The ideal candidate is an excellent executor and communicator, and is passionate about bringing delicious, authentic food to their local market!
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure clean receipt of deliveries from shefs, and execute on sending deliveries off with third-party logistics providers
- Innovate, test, and measure success of operational efficiency initiatives - create SOPs for initiatives that prove positive enough to become a national standard and help roll-out such initiatives across the country
- Execute on national company standards, set forth by company leadership
- Provide educational and data-driven insights for chefs who visit the hub
- Serve as the face of Shef on the ground, particularly to chefs who drop off at the hub
- Manage hub-level inventory
- Utilize tools including ReTool, Slack, Google Sheets, Zendesk, etc in order to communicate with all stakeholders
Qualifications:
- High sense of responsibility: you take responsibility for implementing all aspects of operational standards
- Extreme reliability: you are on-time, all the time, and you ensure balls do not get dropped
- Operationally savvy: you execute, execute, execute. You have a high level of attention to detail, you ensure every delivery goes out on time and in good condition, you maintain food safety rules, etc.
- Operational strategy: You identify and reduce operational variances around the hub to streamline operations. You innovate and test, and can measure results of various initiatives you implement on the ground.
- Communications: you keep in regular communication with your GM; you know when to escalate and when to keep your GM in the loop so there are no surprises.
- Problem solving: when a logistics provider doesn't show up, when an order goes missing -- you can follow SOPs cleanly -- and also come up with a solution if an SOP doesn't exist
- Coachable on technology & data: you can learn to manage all tools with minimal error; can debug where necessary (retool, slack, etc). You can learn to read dashboards to understand your performance, and use numbers to make decisions.
- Seek to serve: You’re a great representation of Shef’s values towards our chefs. You’re our key person on the ground, and the ultimate host.
- You’re able to be on your feet for 8 hours a day
Preferred qualifications (not required):
- Hospitality experience
- Customer service experience
- Warehousing, logistics, or other operations experience
