1.00 FTE Behavior Interventionist - One Year Position at Shelburne Community School
Shelburne Community School is seeking a full time, energetic Behavior Interventionist Para Specialist to join the Behavioral Support Team. Our team serves students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs. We are looking to add a member to our cohort of highly skilled, caring individuals with specific knowledge and expertise in the area of social-emotional learning and behavior. Behavior Interventionists will provide 1:1 behavioral support and programming for individual and small groups of students with significant needs. You will have access to high quality professional learning opportunities and weekly program meetings throughout the school year.
Candidates will work under the supervision of a professional to:
Direct, adjust or develop elements of student instructional and behavioral plans
Foster independence so that students can fully participate in school activities
Collect, maintain, and interpret data
Assist students physically as required and defined in student plans; this can include restrictive behavior interventions in accordance with established protocols.
Integrate instructional, behavioral and communication interventions into the classroom · Participate in student team meetings with other professional staff
Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and demonstrate the ability to build relationships and rapport with students and school teams. Pay rate for this position is $27.61 to $29.43* per hour depending upon education and experience.

General Job Description:
Promoting a positive school climate by establishing trusting relationships with students and staff
Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support students, and identify barriers to their learning and the learning of others
Supporting students in crisis who may be displaying a variety of behaviors, which are unsafe for the classroom environment
Manage communications - receiving and responding to requests for support
Collection and input of behavioral data (referrals and CICO) using the different platforms (i.e. Google, SWIS, etc.)
Communicate with staff and students about outcomes of referrals
Implement elements of student instructional and behavioral plans as informed by the SEL Coordinator and administration.
Trained to utilize CPI de-escalation techniques and holds; this includes restrictive behavior interventions in accordance with established CVSD protocols and AOE Rule 4500. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to help students learn social, emotional and behavioral self-regulation strategies
Collecting and analyzing individual and group-based student behavioral data to inform systemic and individualized practices
Supervising lunch and recess periods
Supervising bus arrival and dismissal
