Long-Term Substitute - Middle Level Art Teacher
Champlain Valley School District is seeking a dynamic and friendly middle-level art educator to join Shelburne Community School from approximately May 26, 2025 through June 13, 2025 and/or August 21 through October 10, 2025. The ideal candidate will be able to fill both stretches of time, but candidates who can only commit to one or the other will be considered.
Preferred qualifications for this position include either a Vermont Professional Educator’s License, or eligibility for licensure in art education from the VT Agency of Education.
The following qualifications are also preferred:
- Strong understanding, experience, and passion for working with the developmental stages of children in middle level (grades 5-8)
- Demonstrated experience establishing a positive and inclusive learning community where all children feel a sense of belonging
- Experience with providing opportunities that are inclusive and equitable for diverse learners by using trauma informed practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and an understanding of anti-bias/anti-racist practices.
- Contributing positive energy to a collaborative team environment
- Strong classroom management skills and developmentally appropriate activities/strategies that promote social and emotional growth.
- Training and experience with developing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Understanding of proficiency based learning and data-responsive instruction based on Vermont Standards and Grade Expectations for Art as well as the National Core Arts Standards
- Ability to effectively integrate technology to enhance instruction and learning
- Actively and clearly communicate with families and students on a regular basis
- Demonstrate the flexibility necessary to thrive in a dynamic public school setting
- Collaborating with others to support students of all abilities in art, especially special educators and core team teachers
- Ability to effectively integrate 21st century technology into the art classroom
