Job Overview
The Shelburne Museum seeks a highly skilled Development Officer to join its dynamic development team. This pivotal role will involve working closely with the Director of Development and Museum Director & CEO to foster deeper engagement with current major supporters while identifying new potential donors.
You will develop a deep understanding of Shelburne Museum's mission, history, current programs, and future plans, building meaningful relationships with donors, trustees, leadership volunteers, and staff. Your primary responsibilities will include managing a portfolio of major gifts prospects and donors locally and nationally, inspiring them to invest in Shelburne Museum to meet annual and capital campaign goals.
In addition to your fundraising expertise, you will lead the Museum's planned giving efforts, designing and implementing innovative strategies for securing major gifts. Your creativity, strategic thinking, and ability to analyze data for informed decision-making are essential qualities for this position.

Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and prospects, aiming for retention and pipeline development.
- Research major gift prospects and maintain regular communication through calls and emails.
- Conduct personal visits with major donors and prospects, scheduling 8-10 visits monthly for cultivation and stewardship, producing timely contact reports.
- Craft compelling solicitation letters, proposals, acknowledgments, reports, and other donor communications.
