Job Summary
This position reports directly to the office of Shelby County Community Corrections. All inquiries should be directed to 205-669-8965.
This position is responsible for ensuring all clients comply with the standard operating procedures of the Pre-trial Release Program and maintain compliance with court orders and related requirements. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Residential Facility Manager.
- Administer drug screens as needed
- Receipt money when necessary
- Search clients as needed in court, etc.
- Answer phones and back up the front desk as needed
- 10 point calculations
- Input participant file information into the MIDAS system
- Maintain and file all hard copy paperwork on clients. Communicate with clients concerning court questions and refer them to the correct department/person at the Courthouse or refer them to their attorney
- Set up files on all new clients as they enter into the program
- Communicate closely with State Probation concerning clients
- Supervise clients' work activities
- Maintain communication with clients' employers
- Maintain participants' community service hours
- Research and aid clients in acquiring legal documents; such as birth certificates, social security cards, driver's license, etc.
- Document incoming prescription medications
- Mediate between clients and their family members
- Attend 72-hour hearings at the Shelby County Jail to assess an inmate's eligibility in the PTR program
- Complete necessary screening paperwork to determine eligibility
- If eligible, PTR Officer obtains court files and signatures from the client, District Attorney, and Judge
- Makes copies of PTR order and provide such to the client, jail, and the clerk's office
- Collect supervision fees from program participants
- Meet with participant twice per month for supervision
- Maintain current case notes in ORANGE files
- Notify courts of any misconduct or violation of PTR
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- BS or BA degree from SACS accredited university
- Direct experience administering policies and procedures
- Caseload management experience

- Must satisfactorily complete employment physical and be capable of performing the essential functions of the position
